Childish David's Substantial Photoshop Actions

The Substantial Actions are a collection of all my favorite tools and helpers I have been creating over the last two years processing photos in Photoshop. All the repetitive steps you usually do by hand are simple to use actions. But all steps are still 100% adjustable if you want. 

Tips and tricks I have learned over the years is what made these actions. They let you focus on your style and the getting the look you want, rather that dealing with the technical aspect of going through each step.

Get more pop into your photos with a clever technique called "ContrastOptimizer" which gives better results than the old defog method.

Two completely different and advanced versions of color pop, that create vibrant colors without making the skin tones look like oranges.

"Marble Eyes" is a very handy tool to enhance eyes in portraits. It's optimized for bringing out eyes without making them washed out. This is the action I spent the most time developing a really good method. I promise you'll love "Marble Eyes" more than any "eye-pop" tutorials from the web.

"Skin Brightener" affects skin tones only and acts like a fill light on them. Works really great on portraits. 

Three different actions for various ways of vignetting effects. 

Two actions to create real film grain. I have been shooting film for many years and got to love the grain effect of high ISO film, especially with B&W film. Since switching to digital I have yet to find a plug in or action that would recreate film grain in a realistic way. Most just add some noise which looks nothing like analog film grain. These two actions are simulating film grain as close to the real thing as possible.

"flushMEM" frees up memory for Photoshop. The more complex editing you do the more memory is lost in all kinds of "corners" thus slowing PS down. This little tool clears as much memory as possible.
